Life of a Mediocre

A mediocre is a person who doubts his decisions. He is another cog in the wheel. And the world forms the similar opinion about him. An achiever is confident of his words and decisions. And the world forms similar opinion about him.

A mediocre makes compromises everyday. I am doing this, is it right? I am thinking to do that, what will be the outcome? Will the people appreciate it? One loses the ability to make decisions, and develops a tendency to continue doing the routine job. He makes constant efforts to bring perfection to the routine job, as it is a human characteristic to prove one’s metal. Of course, a pondering issue is where to apply effort for maximum leverage.

I was reading Swami Vivekananda a few days back, he philosophy was so fundamental and obvious. He said one should respect one’s parents and wife and ensure that they are satisfied and happy with you. Further he added that a person should follow his heart, including the desire to earn money, as it is equally relevant for societal welfare as any social action, but only after keeping parents and wife in good faith. So true and logical! Being a leader means having faith on oneself, understanding and enacting on the fundamental logics. In fact, fundamental things should be an integral part of life, not like each time I listen something, I ask myself, is it aligned to the fundamental?

A basic difference between, an achiever and a mediocre during a conversation is that, an achiever tries to build up his arguments keeping in mind that they are coherent with the basic logics, while a mediocre put up a popular, listened/read view, without giving much thought about his personal agreement or disagreement with it. Hence, whilst an achiever takes a stand while a mediocre just recites a popular view, and his stand is not firm. And this is how leaders and followers are born!

Learning English Language

Today I met Sonia ma’am from a progressive school in Delhi. She does English language with children from KG till standard 5. She has an interesting way of teaching. Actually she involves children in the activities like story telling, expressing different emotions, motivating them for writing their feeling after an activity. The active School teacher- Language teacher, making children learn English through senses. Like she gets chips, then asks them to write how it tasted, how it felt- sour, so what is sour, show it emotionally, what other words are possible for sour.

Story making… say with flexible wires… she started making roads and converted into railway tracks and then asked somebody to make spectacles and so on, the story unfolds….
Similarly she asks children to create graphic novel…

This way through, lot of theatres, tastes, senses, emotions etc. she does language with the children. What a fantastic way!

Grumpy- show me grumpy… in another way, what other emotion can be put for grumpy. She also does story telling and even after doing a story for 50 times, she again re-reads it, before doing, and tries to do it in a new way, so there is continuous learning happening, with each new time reading with the group.
